In 1997 the memorial wall was installed. For the next eighteen years requests to have the names corrected went unanswered. In 2016/17 with the introduction of the first registered association (The Granville Train Disaster Association Inc.), the Memorial Garden and Memorial Wall were refurbished with the assistance of the New South Wales Transport Minister, the CE of Sydney Trains and the Cumberland Council. The garden was repathed, new seating provided and new granite tablets installed on the existing wall, correcting thirteen wrongly scribed names which included one name which was even the wrong gender. The spelling of the names are as best the association could establish from the original DVI list and the Registrar General.
